Team builder

Six slots, drawn from the Champions roster only. As you fill them you get a live read on what your team is collectively weak to, which attacking types nobody answers, and whether your Mega count keeps the team legal.

Legality

What Champions rejects a team for

These are the game's own registration errors, so this is the exact ruleset a team is checked against. None of them caps Mega Evolutions per team; the builder flags a second Mega because only one can be triggered per battle, not because the team would be rejected. The rest depend on the competition you are entering.

  • 40101Your team contains at least one Pokémon that is not eligible to take part.
  • 40102Your team contains too many restricted Pokémon.
  • 40103The Pokémon in your team know at least one move that is not allowed.
  • 40104The Pokémon in your team have at least one held item that is not allowed.
  • 40105Your team does not contain the necessary number of Pokémon.
  • 40106The recruitment period for one or more Pokémon has come to an end.

Every one of these is configured per competition rather than fixed by the game. The tournament rules screen exposes eligible Pokemon, a restricted list with its own cap, eligible and banned moves, eligible and banned held items, and Mega Evolution as a toggleable mechanic. So a team that is legal in one event can be rejected by the next, and the builder above can only check the common defaults. Item costs are on the items page.
